main of Coupons Can Make Your Oil Change More Affordable

Regular maintenance of a vehicle is what keeps it running smoothly. By maintaining a vehicle regularly, the goal is to avoid the type of expensive repairs that occur when something breaks down spectacularly. When it comes to cars and trucks, almost everyone has had to deal with an expensive repair they would rather not make. One of the simplest, but most useful pieces of maintenance you can perform is an oil change.

Oil in an engine absorbs heat to keep the engine cooler and it lubricates the moving metal parts. This crucial process gets interrupted by time and use. The oil breaks down and becomes inefficient. An overheating engine can lead to a cascade of issues and failures. This is why oil changes are so important. The downside is that companies providing oil changes know they are important. Not everyone is capable of doing an oil change themselves (it can get messy if you make a mistake) and they often charge quite a bit for this. The good news is that coupons exist to assist you in getting your oil change down to a more manageable cost.

Where Can You Get Oil Coupons?

There’s several options to help you find yourself some oil coupons. The first is to become an oil change watchdog. Companies that provide oil changes offer up coupons on a regular basis to attract new customers and retain their current ones. These are available on their websites. However, these coupons are often regional in nature. This can put a damper on your hopes. When you know where you want to go for your oil changes, you can monitor their website more closely. You can also subscribe to newsletters and they will typically contain coupons.

Another option is coupon websites and forums. There is a large community out there dedicated to good couponing. They will spend the extra time to save money and are good about sharing what is found.

Finally, there are coupon apps that can send coupons directly to your phone. In some cases you need to search through the app. Other times, the app will search for a coupon just as you are trying to pay. This can lead to unexpected surprise savings.

How Much Can You Expect to Save?

Getting an oil change is usually not that expensive. It depends on what type of oil you are using. If you are using standard oil, then it’s far less (often less than half the cost) than if you are using full synthetic oil designed for high performance engines. Basically, oil changes can run anywhere from $40 to $200 dollars in some cases.

Coupons are just that. They won’t completely reduce the costs of an oil change. The most common coupon that seems to appear for oil changes is a simple $10 off coupon. That’s not an insignificant coupon. Arguably one of the better coupons to keep an eye on is a free “upgrade” in your oil change to a better oil. This can easily save $30 to $50 in many cases.

Popular Oil Change Companies

There’s quite a few different companies that promise quick and efficient oil changes. Many of these specialize in the process so there’s little that could possibly go wrong. Many of the companies have grown from oil manufacturers or car part manufacturers. Some of the most popular include:

  • Jiffy Lube - With over 2000 franchises across the country, you’re never too far from a Jiffy Lube. Jiffy Lube often offers coupons through their website. They also can have coupons in local flyers and mailers if that’s how the franchise chooses to distribute.
  • Grease Monkey - While not having the huge reach that Jiffy Lube does, Grease Monkey is a strong franchise that continues to spread. Grease Monkey usually offers their customers all the information up front, which means that often they will let their customers know about potential coupons directly even if the customer doesn’t have one to start with.
  • Midas - Midas may have started as a muffler shop, but they function for all kinds of repairs and do lots of oil changes. Midas is a huge franchise and is located throughout the country.
  • Valvoline  Instant Oil Change - It’s not surprising that an oil manufacturer has an oil change chain. They only use Valvoline motor oil  for their work and a good place to look for coupons is on their website.
