Enjoying it with family is great; enjoying it in style is perfection. Therefore, understanding different types of swimwear are essential.

Styles of Swimwear

Regardless of the body type, there is swimwear perfect for everyone. As the name implies, a one-piece bathing suit is one piece. It covers the upper and lower body. One-piece bathing suits can be sporty and athletic-looking, or sexy for lounging on the beach. One-piece bathing suits are typically more conservative; however, they can be highly fashionable. It can be a standard cut, French cut, or even thong style on the bottom and work on almost any shape.

A bikini is one of the most popular styles of bathing suits. It is two pieces, and the top is usually two triangles that cover the breast area with straps that tie in the back to hold it in place. Or the top could be designed like a bra with shoulder straps and a back closure. The bottom of the bikini is similarly as skimpy as the top. Bikinis make swimming easier for swimmers. Different tops include:

  • Tankini is a tank top style top worn with almost any bottom.
  • A ruffled top has a flirty ruffle around a bikini top that can cover a small or heavy bust area.
  • Burkini is a bathing suit top specially designed for Muslim women to enjoy the tropics yet remain covered.
  • The bandeau top either twists in the center gathers in the center or has a tie that gives it shape with no straps.

Different swimwear bottom options include:

  • Modest cut covers everything like brief underwear.
The French cut is modest with high sides.
  • Thongs are skimpy bottoms with backsides exposed.
  • Boy shorts fit like extremely short shorts.
  • A string bikini bottom ties on sides but is not always as secure as it could be.

Travel Swimwear Restrictions

A tropical vacation can include so many destinations with endless sunshine, razzle-dazzle beaches, warm seas, and fantastic scenery. These locations are all around the world and give plenty of opportunities for lush destinations. However, when packing swimwear for vacation, consider where you are going and check for restrictions.

  • Barcelona and Mallorca, Spain - Vacationers love the sun and beaches of Spain, but since 2011, they may find themselves fined for wearing bikinis to the beaches there.
  • Maldives - With a growing number of visitors taking note of this tropical getaway, however, don’t be fooled by the lure of seclusion and sexiness. This Muslim country is another where there are limited beaches where you can wear bikinis.
  • Hvar, Croatia - It is a popular destination for celebrities and super-rich individuals; going from the beach to the streets isn’t as easy as other destinations. In Hvar, it is unlawful to walk the streets in swimwear, and they have signs, “Save your money and enjoy Hvar,” as a warning to tourists of fines.
  • United Arab Emirates - Although this is a dream destination for many, most Muslim countries do not believe in bikinis for women and some swimwear for men. However, there are beaches, such as the ones in Dubai, where bikinis are allowed.

As stated above, there is swimwear for almost every body shape and size. Descriptions of them are above, and they are a must-have for a tropical beach vacation.
